Request the Sacrament of Baptism
You wish to be baptized or have your child baptized to become a child of God.
Although baptism, a gift that God gives to everyone regardless of age, is unique, the process differs depending on the age of the future baptized person.
For young children, the commitment made by the parents requires preparation. A preparatory meeting with the parents is mandatory. The choice of godparents must be carefully considered, since they, being baptized themselves, accept the responsibility, just like the parents, for the Christian education of the baptized person. Regardless of your parish of residence, contact the secretariat at least three months before the date of the celebration. Baptisms are performed exclusively after Sunday Masses. Baptisms can be celebrated in all parish churches, with the exception of the St. Nazaire Chapel, the St. Félix Church in Vergéze, and the Codognan Chapel. Likewise, it is not possible to celebrate a baptism "outside": in a garden, a herd, etc.!
For school-age children, the process will be conducted through the catechetical program. This will also allow them to prepare for the second sacrament of Christian initiation, the Eucharist.
For adults, a catechumenate program is offered. It prepares for baptism, the Eucharist, and confirmation (the three sacraments of Christian initiation). A group has been formed this year throughout the parish with the guidance of Deacon Bruno LORTHIOIS.
In all cases, to begin your process, please contact the office.
Receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony
You have decided to get married and entrust this union to God, who has given it to you.
Do not set any dates, times, or locations without first contacting the parish office, which will process your registration. A marriage is not something you rush into. It requires preparation during various meetings throughout the year. Regardless of your parish of residence, contact the office at least one year before the planned celebration date (Tuesday and Friday mornings only). Marriages are traditionally celebrated on Saturday afternoons, but mornings and other days are also possible, with the exception of Sundays. The priest (or deacon) who will preside over your wedding will meet with you at least three times, in addition to three preparation sessions with accompanying couples. In no case can a wedding celebration take place "outdoors", park, manade ...
In the Catholic Church there cannot be a 2nd union: it is prudent to inform you before considering your project.
To initiate your approach, contact the secretariat.
Receiving the Sacrament of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Sick is intended to provide assistance to Christians facing the difficulties of serious illness or old age. It is not a sacrament reserved for the final moments, as the ancient expressions "extreme unction" and "last rites" implied. It is intended for the faithful whose health begins to be seriously affected by illness or old age, for the sick at a time when illness becomes a difficult ordeal, for those about to undergo a serious operation, and for the elderly whose strength is declining significantly. This Anointing of the Sick is obviously not a substitute for medical care.
This sacrament can be received throughout the year, privately or during a Mass.
For the sick or those who can no longer travel, it is possible to receive Communion at home. Simply request it from the parish office. A person appointed by the parish will visit and, during a time of prayer, will administer Holy Communion.
To report a patient's illness, contact Father Chassang or the Vergèze reception desk at +33 4 66 53 28 47.
Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation
You would like to receive the sacrament of forgiveness and find peace within yourself, with God, your brothers and sisters, and yourself. There are clinics available throughout the year (especially on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Vergèze). Other clinics are held on major holidays. For details, please refer to the weekly parish bulletin.
Funerals
You have just lost a loved one and would like to be with them one last time at a religious celebration. The family must first contact the funeral directors. They will contact the parish secretariat (Tel +33 4 66 53 35 36). They will arrange, in consultation with the family and the parish, the day and time of the ceremony. A meeting will then be arranged by the priest or authorized lay people to prepare the ceremony. Funerals are always celebrated in a parish church, never directly at the cemetery or at home. On Mondays, funerals are always conducted by funeral teams composed of trained and authorized lay people.
